West Virginia football added their second former SEC quarterback from the transfer portal on Monday evening as they gained a commitment from Max Brown -- Brown comes to WVU from Charlotte, but began his collegiate career with the Florida Gators. Brown has two years of eligibility remaining.

Brown spent a 2024 season at Charlotte plagued by injuries which severely hampered his performance -- he was only able to appear in five games due to the injury issues, and converted just 43-of-93 passes for 561 yards, 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions for the 49ers.

His stat line was better at Florida when not held back by injuries, though he saw limited opportunities -- after a redshirt season in 2022, he served as a backup in 2023 and went 19-for-28 for 192 yards and 1 interception in 6 appearances with the Gators. He has also tallied 109 rushing yards over his career at both stops.

He is the second transfer quarterback to join the program this offseason after former Texas A&M quarterback Jaylen Henderson joined the roster earlier this month.
