It took five hours of baseball – with a severe thunderstorm, rain delay, and flying canopy tent in-between – but the country roads will officially take the West Virginia Mountaineers to the College World Series for the first time ever.
The Mountaineers put on a dominant display at the plate for the second straight game as they hosted Cal Poly in the Game 2 of the Morgantown Super Regional, scoring 17 runs en route to their historic victory. West Virginia would tally 18 hits and five home runs on the scoreboard in the win.

WVU baseball secures winningest season in program history, advances to Omaha
Not only do the Mountaineers make history by advancing to the College World Series with the win, but they also secured the winningest season in program history with 45 wins, eclipsing the 2025 team's mark of 44 wins.
Advancing to the College World Series also marks the furthest any of the four "revenue" sports (football, men's basketball, women's basketball, and baseball) has advanced since the Mountaineers made a run to the Final Four in men's basketball in 2010.
The Mountaineers will move on to face the winner of the Super Regional between Troy and Little Rock in first-round action in Omaha. The College World Series features eight teams, divided into two four-team double-elimination brackets.
Then, the winner of each bracket moves on to the College World Series Final, which takes place in a Best of 3 format. The event will run from Friday, June 12 to either Sunday, June 21, or Monday, June 22, and will take place at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. Fans can request College World Series tickets online via their WVUGAME.com accounts, with the deadline to request tickets set for Monday, June 8. Tickets will be allocated in priority order.
