WVU relief pitcher Chase Meyer was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Meyer is the second pitcher in 2025 to win the award for WVU.
Starter Griffin Kirn won the Big 12 Co-pitcher of the Week a few weeks ago on March 3. Meyer is the next Mountaineer arm to claim the award.

Meyerβs dominant performance over Big 12 foe earns him pitcher of the week honors
Meyer seems to be one of the main guys along with Carson Estridge, who could be sliding into the weekend starting rotation, in the long relief role. Meyer has been a much-needed presence coming out of the bullpen and eating up innings.
After his outing against Oklahoma State, the sophomore pitcher showed great emotion as he retired the final batter to secure the Mountaineersβ first Big 12 win on the season.
The Daytona Beach, Florida, native played high school baseball at Combine Academy High School in North Carolina, where he was Perfect Gameβs seventh-ranked recruit for all of North Carolina.
Meyer has been a key piece for the first-year head coach Steve Sabins. The sophomore pitcher will be relied on during Big 12 play and the success of the Mountaineers in the Big 12 and NCAA tournament could rely on the performances of Meyer and other key pitchers.
