The selection committee for the NCAA Basketball Tournament released their bracket tonight and to the surprise of not just West Virginia fans but honestly basketball fans and experts everywhere, the Mountaineers were not anywhere to be found.

After finishing the season 19-13 with six Quad 1 wins, the Mountaineers were just barely left out of the bracket as the first team out, and it is absolutely crazy. Up until tonight, the Mountaineers had been in the tournament according to every expert and bracketologist, even after their loss to 16-seed Colorado in the Big 12 Tournament, but clearly, that loss meant more than the selection committee cared to let on.

After the Mountaineers barely missed the field of 68, athletic director Wren Baker took to social media to call out the selection committee for snubbing this team.

"I can't comprehend this team being left out," Baker said in his post on X. "They deserved better than what the committee delivered today."

Baker did not hold back with his feelings as to why he felt the Mountaineers should have made the tournament. He even posted a graphic with all of the things West Virginia accomplished this season, including the six Quad 1 wins, the Mountaineers having the 19th toughest strength of schedule, defeating four ranked teams, and three wins against AP Top 10 teams.

West Virginia fans certainly weren't happy about the Mountaineers not making it to the NCAA tournament, and they also took to social media to make it known. West Virginia deserved better and Baker hit that nail on the head.

"Our resume was better than several teams in the field, and it's a terrible travesty that we weren't included," Baker wrote.

Teams such as Texas, Xavier, adn, most importantly, UNC made it into the field over West Virginia when the Mountaineer's resume was clearly better. those three teams had a combined 5 Quad 1 wins, while West Vriginain again had six. UNC, a team heavily debated for the NCAA Tournament, only had one Quad 1 win and played in one of the weakest conferences in college basketball.

The Mountaineers will not participate in the NIT or any other postseason tournament, so their season has officially ended, and on a very sour note, that is.
