Week 7: Neal Brown's Weekly Hot Seat Rating
By Joshua Petry
Neal Brown's Weekly Hot Seat Rating took a break last week during the bye week, but we are back to bringing you the most up-to-date, hard-hitting hot-seat temperature analysis this side of the Mississippi. With a win against Oklahoma State, the temperature has cooled tremendously, but how much? Let's take a look.
To continue the theme of going by a scoring system, having scored Brown's seat temperature a couple of weeks ago at a 6 out of 10, I projected that a win against Oklahoma State would drop it to a 5 -- however,, the temperature looks to be at a 4 out of 10 after the Mountaineers pulled off their most complete and dominant win thus far on the season in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Coach Brown and his staff had the team clicking in all phases of the football game. Calls for a pink slip for Brown on the message boards are quiet, and social media is crickets as well. We all know how quickly this can change, with WVU set to host an undefeated, 11th-ranked Iowa State this Saturday in a prime-time matchup on FOX.
If WVU were to pull out a win against the Cyclones and then beat the Kansas State Wildcats the following week, we could be looking at an all-time shift in terms of Brown's "hot seat."
You can always count on an unbiased opinion from HailWV.com when it comes to the tush temperature for Brown as well. Firm but fair and forever optimistic about how far this program can go. If the game against Oklahoma State is any indication of this team's ceiling, we may be looking at an 8 or 9-win team down the stretch. Stay tuned every Wednesday to keep up to date on the latest in terms of Brown's hot seat status.
