Many players take their talents to other professional leagues, other than the NFL, to chase their dreams of playing professional football. And for the case of this former WVU wide receiver, he got to showcase his blazing speed during a CFL game.
Former Mountaineer and speedster Mario Alford proved that he still has top-level speed with a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown in the CFL. Alford is currently playing for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders. The kick return touchdown came in the Roughriders' 39-32 win over the Toronto Argonauts.

You can’t teach speed, and that is exactly what Alford has
During his two seasons in Morgantown (2013-2014), Alford caught 92 passes for 1497 yards and 13 touchdowns in his WVU career. 11 of his 13 touchdown catches came in his senior season in 2014. In 13 games, the speedy receiver Alford posted 64 catches, 945 receiving yards, and 11 touchdown catches in his senior season.
Showcasing his versatility and speed, Alford also added two more touchdowns returning kickoffs, also averaging 28.6 yards per return.
During his seven-year CFL career, Alford has added seven punt return touchdowns and four kickoff return touchdowns.
