West Virginia University sports fans are among the most passionate in the world, and anyone who follows the program knows how much love the fan base has for the Mountaineers.
That's in part because of how special of a connection those who have been apart of the community surrounding the school have to it. Those who attend or work for WVU, or whole live in Morgantown, are well aware of what a wonderful community surrounds West Virginia University, and for many it makes them fall in love with the school for life. One of those people is former wrestler Greg Jones.
Three-time national champion Greg Jones shares his love for West Virginia University
Jones, who grew up just north of West Virginia proper in Slickville, Pennsylvania, wrestled for the Mountaineers in the early 2000's. During his time in Morgantown, he became one of the most decorated athletes in the school's history, regardless of the sport: he captured three national championships for the Mountaineers, winning gold at the Division 1 Championships in his weight class in 2002, 2004, and 2005.
"Morgantown, West Virginia, is a very unique place," Jones said. "West Virginia University is a very unique institution. The opportunities that were provided for me and others were exceptional. I think it's a place where you have really genuine people who are invested in seeing athletes, the University and athletics succeed as a whole."

With West Virginia's brand skyrocketing in recent months as the baseball team and the school's traditions were thrust into the national spotlight this summer, many around the country have taken note of the school's passionate fans and deeply rooted traditions. But for those familiar with West Virginia University and the community around it, that support comes as no surprise.
