WVU basketball will be heading to Charleston, South Carolina, with an undefeated 5-0 record. That perfect record will be tested by Clemson and its freshman guard.
WVU will be heading to Charleston, South Carolina, to take on Clemson (4-1) in the first round of the 2025 Shriners Children's Charleston Classic. Zac Foster, a Clemson freshman from Atlanta, Georgia, was a four-star recruit in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports. Foster is averaging 7.8 points, 3.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per game as a freshman.
The freshman guard has struggled to shoot from the floor through his first five collegiate games, shooting 31.4% from the floor and 29.2% from three. But Foster certainly can shoot the three-ball, going 5-12 (41.6%) from the three-point line in his past two games.
Along with his shooting, the freshman can also play above the rim with his athleticism. Standing at 6’4”, Foster features a long wingspan that helps him in several areas of his game. On Monday, in a 20-point win over North Alabama, Foster stunned his home crowd and teammates with a spectacular alley-oop dunk.

Foster can take over a game and create opportunities for himself and the rest of his team. Likely guarding Foster during the game will be mainly veteran point guard Jasper Floyd, with freshman standout Amir Jenkins likely drawing matchups with the opponent’s freshman Foster.
Both Floyd and Jenkins might have a disadvantage going up against the freshman Foster. Floyd is 6’3” and Jenkins is 6’2”, but it seems like Foster’s reach and athleticism might be on a different level than Floyd’s or Jenkins’.
One area that WVU’s defense might be able to slow down Foster is the turnover struggles that the Clemson freshman is dealing with. A defense organized by first-year head coach Ross Hodge is certainly one that can leave its impact on a game, and that might just be how the WVU defense can slow down Foster.
WVU fans might want to remember Foster’s name, because he might just be a big reason that WVU could struggle against Clemson on Friday. Hopefully, Floyd and Jenkins can neutralize this special talent for Clemson.
