The West Virginia Mountaineers still have a long way to go if they want to claim the ultimate goal of a national championship. But they can now claim a win in the College World Series.

WVU baseball opened play at "The Greatest Show on Dirt" on Friday in their first-ever appearance in Omaha. And by the end of the day, the Mountaineers had taken home a 7-5 win over the Troy Trojans to advance in the winner's bracket of their four-team section at the College World Series, moving on to face the winner of tonight's UNC/Ole Miss showdown on Sunday.

After the Mountaineers captured victory in front of 24,000+ fans (the largest crowd the Mountaineers have ever played for), Charles Schwab Field in Omaha serenaded the team with "Take Me Home, Country Roads" – with WVU fans joining together with baseball fans from across the country to partake in a tradition that has gone viral in recent weeks.

With so many baseball fans across the nation rooting for the Mountaineers, both West Virginia's first College World Series win and the first Omaha edition of "Country Roads" went viral on Friday. Some fans were celebrating the fact that the Mountaineers pulled off the win, while others were in awe of some of the standout individual performances from WVU stars.

And of course, some just admired how picturesque a scene Charles Schwab Field singing "Take Me Home, Country Roads" was. Altogether, it paints a picture of a college baseball fandom ready to embrace West Virginia's success at the College World Series, and celebrate with Mountaineer Nation.
