The Darian DeVries era for WVU basketball was nothing short of drama-filled in his one season coaching for the Mountaineers. Since leaving for Indiana this past March, more and more has come out about his lone season in Morgantown.

A few weeks ago, former WVU guard Sencire Harris – who played for DeVries last year – caused a bit of a stir when he was asked on Instagram Live if his former teammate and head coach's son Tucker DeVries was truly injured for the better part of last season. Harris’s answer was short but very clear.

“No, he was not hurt,” Harris answered bluntly.

Flash forward a couple of weeks to late November, and Harris is back to tossing shade towards his former head coach. Harris put up a 12-point performance for Cincinnati against NJIT earlier this week, and when asked online by a West Virginia fan where that offensive production was last season, he made a bold claim about why he was able to knock down shots better after transferring to the Big 12 school Cincinnati. You can see his reponse below.

It can be inferred that Harris felt that the coaching staff last season was not allowing him the freedom to play his game, and he doesn't have the same problem now with the Bearcats. Seemingly, Harris was unhappy with DeVries and his coaching style while in Morgantown.

We are moving towards nine months removed from DeVries departing as the head coach for WVU basketball, but the drama is still hovering around. And at this point, the further distance that the WVU basketball program can put between itself and the DeVries family, the better.
