WVU baseball is off to it's best start to a+ season since the 1960s. Several of the Mountaineers' hitters have been vital in the undefeated record through the first 10 games of 2025, but one of the biggest contributors on offense for the Mountaineers has been utility man Sam White.

The Ontario, Canada, native has been racking up an impressive stat line to open the campaign. White is hitting for an average of .279, managing 12 hits in 43 at-bats -- White has tallied 10 runs, five RBIs, three doubles, and one home run. In addition to his hitting stats, the junior infielder has swiped three stolen bases in four attempts.

Last season, which saw WVU advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals against UNC before being eliminated from postseason play, White was also a key component to the team's success. A consistent presence in the lineup, White recorded a .305 average with 42 RBIs, 10 home runs, and nine doubles.

Along with 2025 Big 12 Preseason Team catcher Logan Sauve, White has been penciled in the top three spots in the lineup for all ten games of the young 2025 season, and is one of four players on the team to start every game so far. White is a left-handed hitter who can make a huge impact with the combination of his power bat and speed at the top of the lineup.

White is now on a hit streak of seven consecutive games for the Mountaineers, and played a significant role in each of the team's two victories so far this weekend in a four-game series against Queens (NC). As the Mountaineers look to keep their perfect season alive, White will surely continue to be a critical piece of the WVU lineup.
