Well, here we go again – the West Virginia Mountaineers are after a five-star prospect who just happens to be son of legendary WVU football safety, the late Chris Henry.

You might be thinking to yourself – I thought Chris Henry Jr. committed to Ohio State, and I thought this was an article about Ross Hodge and WVU basketball. Well, you're correct on both counts. But Henry has another son, DeMarcus Henry, who just happens to be the 15th-best player in the Class of 2027 on the hardwood, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

WVU basketball offers Demarcus Henry, son of late WVU football standout Chris Henry

Rich Rodriguez was unable this past year to land the five-star son of his former player in Chris Henry Jr., who was one of the top 2026 football prospects in the nation. But now Ross Hodge is now looking to use the connection to Morgantown and WVU alum Pacman Jones – who adopted Henry's sons after his death – to land DeMarcus Henry for his team, and the Mountaineers officially have offered the rising forward.

Similar to the recruiting hauls the Mountaineers landed this past offseason in five-star Miles Sadler and four-star Aliou Dioum, the former of whom is aming the Top 25 recruits in the nation in the Class of 2026, the responsibility for this one seems to fall at the feet of Hodge's prized recruiter Yusuf Ali.

Ali spent last season with the Arizona State Sun Devils, and was reportedly instrumental in helping the Mountaineers land Dioum and Sadler, who are both currently playing prep ball in Arizona (with Sadler also sharing a hometown connection with Ali in Toronto). Well, it just so happens that Henry is currently playing prep ball in Arizona as well, and Henry noted that a "great conversation" with Ali preceded his offer.
