Ross Hodge continues recruiting tear by setting visit with Top 5 2027 PG

With West Virginia's addition of incoming freshmen such as five-star guard Miles Sadler, who was the highest rated recruit in program history, and four-star Amadou Seini, the Mountaineers put together one of the best high school recruiting classes in all of Division 1 basketball this past offseason.

But even with the regular season rapidly approaching, Hodge is not taking his foot off the gas in the slightest when it comes to assembling his 2027 class – and at this point, it's looking like he might be able to put together the best class the Mountaineers have ever assembled.

Micah Gordon sets September visit with West Virginia Mountaineers

Micah Gordon is a four-star prospect, who is currently thesecond-best player in Ohioand fifth-best point guard nationally in the Class of 2027 according to 247Sports. Gordon has set up a round of official visits this fall, and the Mountaineers made the cut.

Adam Finkelstein, the director of scouting with 247Sports, describes Gordon as an athlete who plays with "reckless abandon" and called him one of the most exciting players in the country.

"Gordon may be undersized, but he’s compact, strong, athletic, relatively long, and full of energy and competitiveness," Finkelstein said. "His presence is unmistakenly felt virtually every minute he’s on the floor, but almost to a fault at times."

News of the arranged visit comes just days after the Mountaineersmade the top six schoolsfor fellow four-star 2027 guard Javion Tyndale and waspredicted to land elite five-star2027 center Paul Osaruyi – who would take Sadler's place as the top-rated signee in program history – by On3's Jamie Shaw.

So as impressive as West Virginia's recruiting class was last year, there's a possibility the Mountaineers can exceed even the high standard set by Sadler, Seini, and their fellow incoming freshmen. So far, it seems Hodge is proving to be an elite recruiter.
