Ross Hodge has already proven that he's an adept recruiter since taking over the helm of the West Virginia Mountaineers. Landing players like Miles Sadler and Amadou Seini in the Class of 2026 has established as much. But Hodge is still aiming for new heights as he continues to pursue future stars, and he might be close to landing an absolutely massive target.
Reports indicate that Jamie Shaw, who serves as a recruiting analyst with On3, has made predictions regarding the landing spots for several top recruits in the Class of 2027. And he believes the highly-touted Paul Osaruyiwill be headed to West Virginia.
Can the West Virginia Mountaineers secure Paul Osaruyi?
Hodge already secured the top prospect in program history during the last recruiting cycle, with incoming freshman Miles Sadler holding that honor. But Osaruyi, who played with Sadler (alongside two more incoming freshmen in Amadou Seini and Aliou Dioum) at Bella Vista Prep last season, shatters even the high standard set by Sadler.
Osaruyi is ranked asthe 12th best player nationallyand second-best center in his class, according to the 247Sports. He hasbeen a target for Hodgefor much of the offseason, and when there were hints he would reclassify to the Class of 2026, West Virginia's involvement began to heat up.
If the Mountaineers could land Osaruyi, it would be the biggest recruiting haul in program history, and landing five-star targets in back-to-back classes would help establish West Virginia's reputation as a top college basketball destination.
Given Osaruyi's ties to the program, West Virginia isalready in a good positionto land his services. And based on Shaw's intel, it seems like there's a good chance he makes it to Morgantown.
