After a recent stint with the Buffalo Bills ended in the organization letting him walk rather than offering a new contract, former WVU football cornerback Rasul Douglas is now with a different NFL team in the same division as the Buffalo Bills – and is turning heads as he finds some momentum in his new home.
On August 26, Douglas signed a one-year $3 million deal with the Miami Dolphins to join his second team in the AFC East. Douglas had recorded 19 interceptions, 79 pass breakups, and three pick-sixes in his eight-year career before the 2025 season.

Douglas has carved out a very nice career so far in his first eight years before the 2025 season. The former Mountaineer will forever have the designation “Super Bowl Champion” at the end of his name for the rest of his life, as Douglas was a part of the 2017-2018 Philadelphia Eagles when they won the Super Bowl. However, after starting his stint in Buffalo strong, he wasn't deemed worthy of another chance with the team.
But since landing in Miami, Douglas is proving he's worth the new contract he signed in August. He started slow with just two tackles and two pass breakups in the first two contests he played with the Dolphins. However, he came out strong with seven tackles against his former team when the Dolphins and Bills collided last week, and followed that game up with three tackles, two passes defended, and one sack as Miami took down the New York Jets in Week 4. Pro Football Focus (PFF) graded Douglas out at 80.5 overall through four weeks of the season so far, which makes him the sixth-highest graded cornerback in the NFL currently.

Before being drafted in the third round (99th overall) by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2017 draft, Douglas spent two seasons playing for WVU, after starting his career at Nassau Community College.
While playing in Morgantown (2015-2016), Douglas accrued 78 total tackles (55 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, nine interceptions, 18 passes defensed, and two forced fumbles in his 24 games played.
The East Orange, New Jersey, native even returned one of his interceptions in 2016 for a touchdown. Douglas was the name at the top of the list for interceptions in the Big 12 and in all NCAA, leading all defensive players with eight interceptions in 2016. He was also ninth in the Big 12 with eight passes defensed.
It was rumored that Douglas would be joining the Dolphins dating all the way back to late April, but no official contract was signed until the end of August. Landing on his fifth team in nine seasons, WVU fans are hopeful that Douglas has found somewhere where he is appreciated and can make a lasting impact for a few more seasons.
