Big 12 Football is back, and it's time to take a look at how the conference faired in Week 1.

Starting with the early games which have wrapped up, the biggest spotlight was shining on West Virginia, as No. 8 Penn State from the Big 10 visited Morgantown for a rivalry clash. The Mountaineers were shown why Penn State is considered amongst the top tier of the Big 10 and playoff contenders, as they were dogwalked in a 34-12 loss.

The only other Power Four matchup for the Big 12 in Week 1 came on Friday night, as TCU earned a 34-27 win over Stanford to ruin the program's first game as an ACC member.

Houston got off to a rocky start as Willie Fritz inherits the program, with Mountain West opponent UNLV marching into town and earning a 27-7 win over the Cougars in a loss that likely has concern abounding inside the fanbase.

Texas Tech was put on upset alert by in-state FCS foe Abilene Christian, narrowly escaping their opener with a 52-51 win in overtime. Ten other Big 12 programs -- BYU, Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, UCF, Utah, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Cincinnati, and Baylor -- triumphed against FCS opponents in what functioned mostly as tune-up games for the rest of the slate, though Colorado struggled as well against FCS power North Dakota State.

Two games were still being played on the west coast as of the time this article was published, with Arizona State holding a 21-0 lead over Wyoming and No. 21 Arizona up 14-7 on New Mexico. Check back for updates on the final score from those matchups.
