A series of developments have occurred in the search for the next West Virginia football head coach.

News broke moments ago from Chris Anderson with 247Sports afilliate EerSports that Ohio State wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator Brian Hartline has interviewed for the opening at WVU. Hartline is regarded as a top recruiter and talent developer nationally, having recruited and coached first-round NFL Draft picks such as Marvin Harrison Jr. and Chris Olave. Current Ohio State standout wide receiver and five-star recruit Jeremiah Smith is a Hartline product, and also cousin of former WVU quarterback Geno Smith.

This news came soon after WVU football alum and ESPN analyst Pat McAfee mentioned on his daily ESPN show that a decision on the opening may come as soon as today while hinting names that have not been mentioned yet for the job may still be in the mix.

"I believe there is a chance we find out today who the next head coach is. I wanna let whoever it is know I'm with you, I think, because some name could pop out of nowhere," McAfee said.

Last night, ESPN's Pete Thamel revealed that West Virginia has reportedly finished in-person interviews and would be making their decision on the hire within 24-48 hours.
