The North Texas Mean Green wear different colored uniforms than the West Virginia Mountaineers, and they're located on the other end of the country from Morgantown – but things might look familiar for WVU fans if they catch North Texas playing next year.

It started when the Mean Green hired Neal Brown last month to take over their vacant head coach opening, and continued as he brought former WVU assistants Tyler Allen and Jevaughn Codlin onto his staff at the program. But he wasn't quite finished in recreating what things looked like at WVU.

Jahiem White, who was the Mountaineers' starting running back this season until he was injured in Week 2, entered the transfer portal in December, and shared a social media view on Saturday of his first visit – which just so happened to be at North Texas. White ran for 1,687 yards and 11 touchdowns during his first two seasons with WVU, where he was recruited by and then played for Brown and his staff.

If White does end up with his old head coach, he could also reunite with his former running backs coach – as it was announced on Saturday that Neal Brown will be hiring running backs coach Chad Scott to his staff at North Texas, continuing their long-time partnership.

Scott served as Brown's running backs coach for all six seasons of his stint in Morgantown, and Scott served as the interim head coach for the 2024 Frisco Bowl after WVU fired Brown. Scott was re-hired by Rich Rodriguez, but left in the middle of spring practices when offered the same role at Texas, where he coached alongside Brown, who was the assistant to head coach Steve Sarkisian. The Longhorns parted ways with Scott at the end of the season.
