The Big 12 Conference released its 2025 Football Awards on Thursday, with several WVU football players receiving honors on the all-conference team.

The Mountaineers had a disappointing 4-8 2025 season which came to an end with a shoutout loss at the hands of Texas Tech last weekend, and due to the lackluster season, no Mountaineers managed to make an appearance on the forest-team, second-team, or third-team lists. However a handful of West Virginia players did receive Honorable Mention selections for their performances this season.

Leading off the list was senior linebacker Reid Carrico. The former Ohio State Buckeye and Ironton, Ohio native finished his second (and final) season with WVU with 69 tackles (8 TFL) and 4.5 sacks. He was joined on the defensive side of the ball by nickel/safety Fred Perry, who recorded 78 total tackles (10 TFL), three pass breakups, two sacks, and two forced fumbles for WVU in his sole season with the Mountaineers after following head coach Rich Rodriguez from Jacksonville State.

Rounding out the defensive honorees was defensive tackle Edward Vesterinen, who finished his fifth and final year with West Virginia with 30 total tackles (5.5 TFL), two sacks, and one fumble recovery. It is his second time earning an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection, as he also achieved the honor in 2023.

On offense, the Mountaineers had two honorable mention selections in true freshman quarterback Scotty Fox Jr., and offensive tackle Nick Krahe. Fox Jr. started six games and played in ten for the Mountaineers, setting multiple freshman records for the program. He led the team in passing with 1,276 yards, throwing seven touchdown passes and six interceptions en route to a 2-4 record as a starter. He also added 201 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Krahe, meanwhile, started all 12 games for a WVU offensive line that averaged 160.6 rushing yards per game.
