Former West Virginia Mountaineers guard Miles "Deuce" McBride has represented the old-gold-and-blue well for the New York Knicks over the past few seasons. He has been having one of the best stretches of his NBA career in recent weeks, but a recent injury that has kept him out of action over the last few games is now set to completely derail his season.
McBride sat out in recent games due to "left ankle injury management." But reports on Thursday indicated that McBride is now set to undergo a core muscle surgery, and may be out for the until the NBA playoffs.

Huge blow but shows why Alvarado was a priority.
McBride has missed last few games with “left ankle injury management”
Former WVU Basketball Star Guard Injured Amid Impressive Season
McBride, who starred at West Virginia from 2019-2021, is having his best NBA season yet with the Knicks. He has already tied his single-season high for starts with 14, and currently has career-best averages in minutes per game (28), points per game (12.4), and rebounds per game (2.6). He is also averaging 2.8 assists per game, which is the second-best season average of his career.
Inside that season, McBride has been on a heater of a stretch since returning from an injury that kept him out for a portion of December. He returned for the final two games of the month and combined for 35 points, six rebounds, and four assists in those outings.
Once the calendar turned to the new year, McBride continued his explosion – from his return on December 29 through January 21, McBride scored double-digits in 11 of 13 games, scored 20-or-more points on four different occasions, and averaged 15.4 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Now, that wildly successful stretch will come to a premature end as McBride will miss multiple months of action. But the good news is that McBride will likely have a shot to play again this season if he does make it back the playoffs.
The Knicks are currently second in the Eastern Conference, 6.5 games ahead of seventh-place (the cut-off line for an automatic postseason bid) and ten games ahead of 11th-place (the cut-off for making the NBA Play-In Tournament).
