Don't look now, but former West Virginia Mountaineers star guard Miles "Deuce" McBride is wowing NBA fans with an absolutely historic shooting effort in recent weeks.
Last night, McBride played a crucial role as the Knicks dominated the Utah Jazz 146-112, as he recorded 22 points for his team behind a 7-of-10 performance from three-point range. But his impressive outing on Friday was just one of numerous explosive offensive efforts for McBride in his fifth season at the NBA level – it marked McBride's second game over the past month scoring 20-or-more points in a single outing, and his fifth double-digit scoring performance in the last six games he's played.
Furthermore, during that same six-game stretch, McBride is 27-of-42 from behind-the-arc (64%), 30-of-53 overall from the field (56%), and 11-of-12 (91%) from the free-throw line. According to numbers sourced from the Basketball Reference database, McBride is the first and only player in league history to shoot for 64% or higher from three-point range, 55% or higher from the field, and 90% or higher from the free-throw line over the course of six games while taking more than 40 three-point attempts.
To put these numbers in perspective, per @bball_ref:

Deuce is the first and only player in NBA history to shoot
> 64% from three-point range
> 55% from the floor and
> 90% from the FT stripe
over a six-game stretch in which he’s attempted > 40 three-pointers.

McBride has averaged 12 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists this season for the Knicks, and has seen an increased role for the team as he moved into the starting lineup while OG Anunoby was sidelined due to injury. Anunoby returned on Friday, relegating McBride back to a bench role, but he managed to make the most of 22 minutes of game action to convert seven three-pointers.
"I try to bring the same passion, same energy, and same love for the game, no matter my role," McBride said regarding his mentality on moving back to coming off the bench.
