The West Virginia Mountaineers will look a bit different next season – but they might end up being an even deadlier team on the hardwood.

Mark Kellogg has got the WVU women's basketball program firing on all cylinders, racking up three consecutive 25+ win seasons and three consecutive NCAA Tournament second round appearances under his leadership, capped by the team earning the opportunity to host NCAA Tournament action for the first time since 1992.

He's lost a lot of talent from that group both in the transfer portal (Jordan Thomas, Loghan Johnson, Carter McCray, and Riley Makalusky) and to graduation (Jordan Harrison, Sydney Shaw, Celia Riviere, Kierra Wheeler, Sydney Woodley). But make no mistake – he has been hard at work this offseason filling his biggest gaps on the roster, and he added his third former Power 4 starter to compliment lone returning starter Gia Cooke on Monday.

WVU women's basketball adds BYU starter Marya Hudgins in transfer portal

The Mountaineers secured a commitment on Monday from Marya Hudgins, who spent last season with the BYU Cougars, where she started 27 games for the Cougars and averaged 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 steals. She also adds a lengthy 6-foot frame while will help add to the overall increase in size on this year's roster and add versatility on the wing.

Hudgins becomes the third player to join the lineup from the portal that started last season consistently for a Power 4 program, as UCF center Khyala Ngodu and Marquette forward Skylar Forbes also bring that same level of experience.

They join two mid-major starters with postseason experience in Kennedy Harris and Zahirah Walton, who were the top two scorers for George Mason last season.
