Former West Virginia baseball star JJ Wetherholt has finally made it to the major leagues, and he's been making the most of the opportunity. Now, another special moment has arisen for Wetherholt as he is will return to his home city of Pittsburgh for the first time to play as an MLB star, with a large turnout from his alma mater.
Wetherholt has been excellent in his debut season with the St. Louis Cardinals, and now he, along with fellow former Mountaineer Victor Scott II, will travel to PNC Park in Pittsburgh to face the Pirate in a four-game series starting tonight and running through Thursday.

"What's up Mountaineer Nation, it's JJ Wetherholt," he said. "Just wanted to say thank you guys for all the support and everyone who has kept following my journey. Just super excited to be here in Pittsburgh, and looking forward to seeing some of you here. Let's go Mountaineers."
West Virginia turned out for Wetherholt, too. Wetherholt shared a pregame moment with WVU head coach Steve Sabins and his family, caught up with the staff at the game, and among the attendees present to take in the action was WVU Athletic Director Wren Baker, with his family in tow. If you're hoping to catch Wetherholt in the Steel City, you will have three more opportunities this week!
