Honor Huff reveals definitive reason why recruits should choose WVU basketball

Huff gave a ringing endorsement of West Virginia and Ross Hodge on Monday.

Honor Huff took a risk in his senior year of basketball. He was a highly-touted transfer portal prospect, and likely could have had his pick of many different Power 5 programs. But he decided to choose the Mountaineers, who were under the leadership of a first-year head coach in Ross Hodge.

Now, with the Mountaineers set to close their season this week in the College Basketball Crown, Huff reflected a bit on the choice during a press conference on Monday. And Huff, who has reshaped the West Virginia record book from three-point range, seems pretty happy he made the decision to go with Hodge and the Mountaineers.

At Monday's presser, Huff was asked about what message he's give to recruits as to why they should choose to attend West Virginia. In response, he didn't pull any punches about his feelings on the program – and why playing for Ross Hodge and the Mountaineers is a premier opportunity for players.

"If you want to grow not only as a basketball player but as a person this is the best place to be," Huff said. "Just this coaching staff, and the way they teach you. Like I said, not about how to put the ball in the basket, because we can all grow in that facet. But we've all come here, especially as transfers, with experience of putting the ball in the basket and winning games."

"But just growing your mind to life beyond basketball and using basketball as a chance to enhance your growth, I think this is the best place to be."
