The West Virginia Mountaineers are currently sitting on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament with two weeks remaining in the regular season, and that is an argument to be made that despite various struggles on the season, the team has outperformed expectations.

The leader of the team this season, at least when it comes to scoring, has been senior guard Honor Huff, who joined the Mountaineers to finish his final season of collegiate eligibility after spending the past two seasons with Chattanooga and his freshman season at VMI.

Honor Huff makes major impact for West Virginia Mountaineers from behind the arc

Huff leads WVU in scoring this year with 15.4 points per game, and has the second-best three-point percentage of the eight Mountaineers with 20 or more three-point shot attempts this season, knocking down 35.4% of his 254 three-point attempts. That math works out to 90 converted three-pointers, which has helped Huff recently achieve a pair of significant milestones – one within West Virginia program history, and one within NCAA history.

Huff has officially climbed into the Top 5 all-time in single-season made three-point field goals for West Virginia. He is now just two three-pointers away from surpassing Kevin Pittsnogle for fourth place on that list, who nailed 91 shots from behind the arc in 2006.

Nine more made three-pointers will put him in third place on the list and upend Alex Ruoff, who knocked down 98 triples in 2008. To reach first place on the list, Huff will need to hit 28 more shots from three-point range, as Frank Young holds the top spot with 177 made three-pointers in 2007.

Huff has also now officially made 382 three-point shots over the course of his NCAA career, which has moved him into the Top 50 on the NCAA's all-time made three-point shots list. Huff is currently ranked 49th overall, tied with Bryce Brown, who played for Auburn from 2015-2019, and Desmond Cambridge, who played for Brown, Nevada, and Arizona State from 2017-2023.
