Erik Stevenson sends statement to the West Virginia Mountaineers after loss

Former West Virginia guard Erik Stevenson, who starred for the Mountaineers from 2022-2023, recently took to social media after watching his former team lose in the conference tournament to share some wisdom with the current group of coaches and players representing the Old Gold and Blue after the bitter end to the season.

"Dedicated offseason on the trail and in the gym," read the tweet sent out by Stevenson, followed by the words "next year" and an emoji of a flexing muscle. He also tagged the WVU basketball account in the post.

Stevenson spent one season with the Mountaineers, averaging 15.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 43 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range. He helped lead West Virginia to the 2023 NCAA Tournament in what would be the final season for legendary head coach Bob Huggins – it was the last time the Mountaineers made the Big Dance.

Stevenson has since starred in the G-League, and even signed a 10-day NBA contract with the Washington Wizards – though he never made an appearance for the team. He currently plays professionally overseas for the Manisa Basket in Turkey.
