You may not have heard former WVU offensive tackle Doug Nester's name as much as you did his former teammate Zach Frazier's this season, but both spent the year on the same NFL roster with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Frazier's season was more successful -- starting every game he appeared in as a rookie and secure the Joe Greene Great Performance Award honoring the organization's top rookie player. But Nester played a critical role on the Steelers' practice squad the entire season, and his performance impressed enough to earn himself another contract headed into 2025.

Nester's agent Brett Tessler announced on Monday that the Steelers have signed Nester to a new contract for the 2025 season, giving him one more year to live the dream of an NFL star and potentially find his way onto the main roster.

Nester was a five-year collegiate starter, earning 17 starts during his first two seasons with Virginia Tech before transferring to WVU and starting 38 games over three seasons at multiple positions on the offensive line. Nester is a Kenova, W.Va-native and Spring Valley High School alumni.
