As many of the minor league baseball seasons are coming down the home stretch, it is a great opportunity for minor leaguers around the country to make a last impression before the offseason begins.
Drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers, former WVU pitcher David Hagaman has been quietly putting together a great season across two different organizations. After being a part of trade at the MLB Trade Deadline, a trade that sent MLB pitcher Merril Kelly from the Arizona Diamondbacks to the Texas Rangers. Hagaman was a part of the trade package that the Rangers sent to the Diamondbacks. Flash forward a little over a month, on August 25, Hagaman was named as the High-A Northwest League Player of the Week for the Hillsboro Hops.

The Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, native has posted the most number of innings at the High-A level this season. Hagaman has also pitched at the Single-A level and Rookie Ball level. Since joining the Hillsboro Hops in the High-A Northwest League, Hagaman has recorded 20.1 innings pitched with a 3.15 ERA and 0.750 WHIP. In his 20.1 innings of work, Hagaman has racked up 27 strikeouts while only issuing four walks.
David Hagaman made some noise at the close of the MiLB 2025 season
The fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft pick, Hagaman spent two seasons (2023-2024) at WVU before moving on to his professional career. In his two seasons, Hagaman worked 73.1 innings in a WVU uniform with a career 4.66 ERA, 1.227 WHIP, and .202 batting average against. Also racking up 89 strikeouts and two saves (2024 season) in his 73.1 innings pitched.
Now, Hagaman looks to continue to impress at the minor league level for the Arizona Diamondbacks next season. The Hillsboro Hops season ended on Monday with a 5-3 win. Hagaman will now turn his attention to getting better and honing his craft for the 2026 season. After his close to the 2025 season, Hagaman has a chance to make the Double-A team with the Diamondbacks.
