One of the biggest analysts in college basketball media finds the idea of a lawsuit or investigation into the NCAA over the West Virginia basketball tournament snub a bit preposterous.
In a video on social media Monday night, ESPN analyst Jay Bilas discussed the inclusion of UNC into the NCAA Tournament at the expense of a number of other bubble teams, including WVU basketball.
"Well, if you don't want to be at the end of the line and have the committee decide that, maybe you should think about winning more. Case dismissed."Jay Bilas on potential WVU legal action
And while Bilas was sympathetic to those upset at the decision and with the Mountaineers for making their tournament case, he turned his nose up at the idea of West Virginia's governor Patrick Morrisey and attorney general J.B. McCuskey launching an investigation into the proceedings and pondering further legal action over the matter,
"There is one thing that is a little bit bothersome," Bilas said. "I think for West Virginia, I mean complain all you want, make your case, let's talk about whether the system is right, whether we should make changes, all that stuff."
"But this idea of a lawsuit against the NCAA or against the Selection Committee is really kind of silly. And I wish I were the judge of that thing, because one of the questions I'd ask the plaintiff is how many games did you play, and how many of those games did you win? Well, if you don't want to be at the end of the line and have the committee decide that, maybe you should think about winning more. Case dismissed."
