Former West Virginia director of player personnel/recruiting Nelson Hernandez, who served on Darian DeVries' staff during his first season in Morgantown, had some thoughts on Selection Sunday that drew the attention many fans and media members who follow the Mountaineers.

Hernandez was with WVU basketball for just one season, arriving from Oklahoma State after DeVries was hired as a critical addition to the staff, and departing after DeVries left for Indiana. He landed at Virginia Tech as the program's general manager, following WVU assistant coach Chester Frazier and former WVU forward Amani Hansberry.

Nelson Hernandez sends cryptic tweet, confirms he wanted to see Indiana-WVU showdown in College Basketball Crown

On Sunday, just hours after Indiana, Virginia Tech, and WVU all missed the NCAA Tournament, Hernandez posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that "You can't excape karma." The post drew a lot of attention from West Virginia fans, who seemed to believe it was a shot at DeVries after he bolted on Hernandez and the rest of the team for the Hoosiers days after getting snubbed from the NCAA Tournament.

Hernandez did not confirm nor deny it was a shot at DeVries. However, he was asked by one fan his thoughts on Indiana declining a College Basketball Crown bid, slamming the door shut on a potential showdown between DeVries and his former team in the postseason. And his answer indicates his feelings pretty well.

"I would’ve loved to see the game honestly I may have even gone to Vegas full WVU gear for that one," wrote Hernandez.

It seems that Hernandez is on West Virginia's side in the ongoing drama between the Mountaineer fan base and DeVries, and that may serve as an indicator on his true feelings on the way their tenure with the program ended.
