Another WVU Football QB Is Now Questionable For Homecoming Showdown With TCU

The Mountaineers are unable to stay healthy, and the quarterback room is getting thin.

WVU football is getting to a point where the team can't quite afford any more injuries, particularly in the quarterback room. Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, the bad luck keeps coming.

Rich Rodriguez announced the latest injury updates for the Mountaineers on his Monday night radio show, and it seems to involve the room thinning even further at quarterback. Khalil Wilkins, who started the game against BYU and played a large portion of the UCF game after replacing Scotty Fox Jr. in his first start, left the UCF game late with an injury – Rodriguez officially declared Wilkins will be questionable for this week's Coal Rush game against TCU.

With neither Nicco Marchiol (who is out for the season) or Jaylen Henderson (who missed the last two games) on the depth chart released for the game, the Mountaineers will be down to Scotty Fox Jr. and Max Brown before dipping into their walk-ons – and it isn't a sure thing that Brown will be healthy, either, and he's been banged up in recent weeks.

"Might be," Rodriguez said when asked if walk-ons would get reps in practice. "Obviously, we're hoping Max Brown will be healthy."

"Scott Kean is a fifth, sixth-year guy, and may have to take a few reps as well...he's a senior who can come and do some stuff for us," he added before also mentioning true freshman walk-on Max Anderson as an option.

Rodriguez did reiterate his confidence in Fox despite pulling him after the first quarter against UCF, saying he could "make all the throws." He also said that he "never thought" he'd actually have to run through five quarterbacks this season, despite alluding to the fact he was confident to play all five in the preseason.

Other injury news made available during the show concerned a defensive starter who has been a crucial piece to the limited defensive success the Mountaineers have found this season, as safety Fred Perry was also mentioned as questionable for the upcoming game.
