JJ Wetherholt has wrapped his first full professional season, and it was a wildly successful one. From unbelievable personal statistics to personal accolades, this has been a very special year for the former WVU baseball star, and very deservingly so.
Last Tuesday, Wetherholt was named the Texas League Most Valuable Player for his work at the beginning of the summer with St. Louis Cardinals' Double-A affiliate Springfield. His Texas League MVP honor came just one day after he was named as the Cardinals’ MiLB Player of the Year. Wetherholt spent just a short time playing for the Springfield Cardinals before being promoted to the Memphis Redbirds at the Triple-A level.
