The West Virginia Mountaineers concluded their historic 2025 baseball season with an NCAA Super Regional loss to the LSU Tigers. But after the winningest season in program history, accolades keep rolling in for various WVU baseball players.

A trio of Mountaineers recently found themselves named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-East Region Team. Infielder Sam White, pitcher Griffin Kirn, and pitcher Jack Kartsonas were the trio representing West Virginia on the list.

White, Kirn, and Kartsonas all had great seasons, helping propel the Mountaineers to their second Super Regional appearance in as many years. Although White missed some time with an injury, he returned to the lineup and made the most of his at-bats as the DH following those issues. White finished the season with a .361/.426/.529 slash line with 46 RBIs and home runs.

Star pitcher Kirn was a force to be reckoned with in 2025. Transferring in from a Division II program, Quincy University, Kirn was undoubtedly the best pitcher for the Mountaineers in 2025. Finishing the season with a 5-3 record and a 3.36 ERA in 99 innings pitched, the Quincy, Ill. native also recorded a save in the Clemson Regional championship game that sent West Virginia to their second straight Super Regional.

Kartsonas, who transferred into the program from Kent State, was a hugely important piece for the WVU baseball pitching staff in 2025. Sabins looked to a multitude of pitchers to fill the starting rotation on Saturday and Sunday during the season. Once Kartsonas was built up to a higher pitch count following an arm surgery in the offseason, he claimed the Saturday starter spot and never looked back. The right-hander finished with a 6-4 record and a 3.66 ERA in 66.1 innings pitched.

The trio of White, Kirn, and Kartsonas certainly deserved the honors of the ABCA All-East Region. With Kirn and Kartsonas out of eligibility, and White a potential 2025 MLB Draft prospect, the Mountaineers will have some major gaps to fill entering next season.
