3-time West Virginia Player of the Year returns home to play for WVU

Mark Kellogg secured a commitment from the Wheeling native to play for the Mountaineers next season after an electric freshman campaign at the mid-major level.

WVU women's basketball continue to build one of the most impressive portal classes in the country as the Mountaineers landed a commitment from a native daughter on Monday night.

The commitments have been rolling in over the past 24 hours for the Mountaineers, with West Virginia making additions to the roster in a 6-foot-7 center with Power 5 experience, and 6-foot starting Big 12 guard. but it appears Mark Kellogg still had some moves up his sleeve. Because Duquesne transfer Alexis Bordas announced her commitment to the Mountaineers late on Monday.

Wheeling native Alexis Bordas transfers to West Virginia women's basketball for collegiate homecoming

The West Virginia Mountaineers bring Bordas home after she spent an electric freshman season with the Dukes at the mid-major level, where she started all 31 games and averaged 15.5 points, 3.1 rebounds,1.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest.

She was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, and tied for second in program history for made single-season three-pointers with 90 – she also put up a 38-point effort with 10 made three-pointers against Pitt last season.

Bordas was a standout for Wheeling Park as a prep player, where she became a three-time West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year, three-time Mary Ostrowski Award winner, and three-time West Virginia MaxPreps Player of the Year.

She was named a First-Team All-State selection all four years of her prep career, finishing her career with 2,606 points and a McDonald's All-American nomination. As a senior, she averaged 33.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals, and 2.0 assists per game.

Expect Bordas to compete immediately for a significant role in the rotation for the Mountaineers, and to make a massive impact as a three-point scorer.
