Game 12: 1938 vs. Texas Tech

The Jan. 1, 1938 match up came in the Sun Bowl, which was the second postseason game the Mountaineers would play.

Harry Clarke torched the Texas Tech defense for 132 yards and scored the lone touchdown in a 7-6 win.

These two teams wouldn’t face each other for another 74 years, though. Now that Texas Tech and West Virginia are in the Big 12, they face off every year.
