The Mountaineers still have moves to make in the portal, and these two Morgantown natives could be worth bringing home.

WVU basketball is hard at work reloading their roster for Ross Hodge's second season with the Mountaineers, and they're off to a strong start. But there are still more spots that need to be filled on the roster.

One of the tougher parts of recruiting for West Virginia can be convincing high-caliber talent to make the move to Morgantown. But the Mountaineers could target a pair of players in the portal that might not need much convincing, because it would mean returning to their hometown to make the jump to the Power 5 level for their home state's flagship university.

Morgantown natives Sharron Young, Blake Barkley still available in the transfer portal

Two players who are originally from Morgantown are still on the portal market in Sharron Young and Blake Barkley.

Young played his high school ball at Morgantown High School, earning West Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year honors before committing to the Akron Zips. He has earned significant playing time over the past two seasons, averaging 7.3 points and 2.6 rebounds over that stint while appearing in all 69 games the Zips played. He also played in the NCAA Tournament twice with Akron, and Hodge has went on record stating that postseason experience is important to him.

Barkley played at University High School in Morgantown before a postgraduate prep season. He then spent two seasons at Northwestern, earning limited playing time, but boosted his stock after spending last year at East Tennessee State, where he averaged 15.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

Also in the portal is Fairmont native DeSean Goode, who played high school ball just 30 minutes from Morgantown. Goode was just named Horizon League Player of the Year at Robert Morris this past season, averaging 15.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. All three players have two seasons of eligibility left.
