WVU wrestling earns No. 19 ranking in preseason poll, set to begin season Saturday

The National Wrestling Coaches Association released their Preseason NWCA Division I Coaches Poll this week, and West Virginia wrestling found themselves ranked No. 19 to open their 2024-2025 season.
.The ranking is the first appearance for the Mountaineers in the preseason poll since 2016 and fifth time overall -- previous incarnations of the program were ranked in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2016. It is also the second-highest WVU has found itself ranked in the preseason in program history, only after the team was ranked No. 10 to open the 2005 season.
Six Mountaineers have also earned Top 25 individual rankings in their weight class by FloWrestling:
No. 18 Jett Strickenberger (125), No. 15 Jordan Titus (141), No. 3 Ty Watters (149), No. 4 Peyton Hall (165), No. 23 Brody Conley (174) and No. 24 Dennis Robin (184) all find themselves amongst the best in the nation in their class.
The Mountaineers are set to begin their action for the third consecutive year at the Southeast Open on Nov. 2 at Roanoke College (VA). The event is set to begin at 9 a.m. ET, and fans can catch the action live on FloWrestling.
