After making their season debut in the AP Women's Basketball Top 25 poll last week, the West Virginia Mountaineers have continued their climb in the poll.
The Mountaineers entered the rankings last week at No. 23 overall following a major upset over Duke that had the college basketball world abuzz, and after last week's Thursday morning win over Appalachian State, West Virginia has jumped up two more spots in the poll to land at No, 21 this week.

WVU is still one of five Big 12 programs to find themselves in the rankings, and is no longer the lowest-ranked among Big 12 teams in the poll, as they jumped past Oklahoma State, who fell from No. 18 to No. 24 following its first loss of the season to St. John's (NY). TCU (No. 8), Iowa State (No. 10), and Baylor (No. 15) are the three other Big 12 teams that made the poll.
The Mountaineers' marquee win, Duke, looks less impressive with the new poll, however. The Blue Devils dropped from the poll after losing their second game of the season to WVU, but were still receiving votes. After a third loss last week, Duke failed to receive any votes in the latest poll.
The Mountaineer will have a chance to continue their climb through the poll, as they started their week off with a win on Monday afternoon against McNeese State at the Baha-Mar Pink Flamingo Championship in The Bahamas. WVU will now face Ohio State, which received 15 votes in this week's AP Poll, in the tournament championship game on Wednesday.
