Former WVU women's basketball point guard JJ Quinerly is having a standout WNBA rookie season with the Dallas Wings -- and she just came through with yet another massive performance for her team.

On Monday night, the Wings suffered a nasty 102-72 loss to the Phoenix Mercury that brought Dallas back to Earth a bit after stretch of five wins over their past seven games -- but despite the lost, Quinerly turned in one of her best professional performances yet. She managed to score 18 points and dish five assists against the Mercury on Monday, leading the Wings in both statistical categories for the evening -- her scoring effort also marks her career-high in the WNBA, coming just four days after she had broken her previous top scoring performance.

In the past three outings for Dallas, Quinerly has earned her first three professional starts and has done her best to make the most of her opportunity -- she has combined for 50 points, 16 assists, and 10 rebounds over those three contests. With Monday's effort, she has officially reached 100 career points in the WNBA before her rookie season has even come close to ending.

The Wings started their season 2-11, but have rebounded as the summer moves on to sit 6-14 with just over half of the regular season schedule remaining -- they currently sit at 11th in the league standings, and will need to climb into the Top 8 to make the WNBA playoffs this fall.

When speaking after Monday's loss, Quinerly talked about areas where she thinks the team needs to approve, and her answer will come as no surprise to anyone who followed her career at West Virginia.

"I think we definitely need to come out there with that dog mentality, and just come out there and show them defensively that we're not going to let anything go," she said.
