Many young kids dream of a career in basketball – the kind that allows you to compete at the highest levels on a national stage while putting money in your pocket. For incoming WVU transfer Finley Bizjack, that dream has become a reality.
But college sports is becoming ever more of a true business, and when you're juggling academics, athletics, and your own business in the form of your career, it can be tough to keep everything straight. And while most athletes have signed with agents to help with the business side of things in the NIL and revenue sharing era, Bizjack also keeps around a special family connection who helps keep him on track: his mother.
How Finley Bizjack's 'momager' helps guide his career
When speaking with the press on Thursday, Bizjack highlighted some of the work his mom does in helping keep him on track and focused on the sport that puts money in his pockets, even revealing his affectionate-but-quirky nickname for her based on those efforts.
"I have the best support staff between my mom and my agent," Bizjack said. "My mom, I call her a 'momager,' because she manages everything for me. If it's money, if it's food, if it's toiletries – like my mom ordered me toilet paper the other day. Just all the little stuff, my mom handles all that for me."

"She's so good about it and she loves to do it and I trust her with everything. And she doesn't let me spend any of my money, she just lets me live off per diem and stuff. She's on top of all that, and it makes my life so easy because i can just focus on me and playing basketball."
And while a lot of that may not seem like a huge deal, when you're a college athlete with countless training activities and games throughout the year in addition to school work to handle, not having to worry about the 'little things' can go a long way in taking stress off. So if Bizjack is playing at a high level this year, make sure to send a thank you to his 'momager' for the work she's putting in.
