The last three meetings have come in Morgantown – the Leopards beat the Mountaineers at the Coliseum in consecutive seasons in 1971-72 and 1972-73, winning the two games by a combined five points. WVU won the last meeting in 2014-15 by a score of 83-56 behind double-doubles from Jonathan Holton (18 points, 15 rebounds) and Devin Williams (15 points, 11 rebounds).
