On Saturday evening, West Virginia basketball player Sencire Harris -- who started last season for the Mountaineers under then-head coach Darian DeVries and is now in the transfer portal -- shared a reaction to a recent DeVries interview that will surely interest Mountaineer fans.

After leaving Morgantown to take the job as Indiana's head coach following just one season with WVU, DeVries recently appeared on The Jim Rome Show to discuss his new gig.

"When it's Indiana, and you say it to yourself or anybody else. That brand and that opportunity, the resources... It was just something I couldn't pass up," DeVries said.

Harris, who joined DeVries at WVU after starting his career at Illinois and was a significant member of the lineup this past season, retweeted a clip of the above quote on social media platform X/Twitter with an emoji often used to signal one is laughing hard enough to cry.

Since the dramatic end of the program's 2024-2025 season unfolded, which saw the team get snubbed from the NCAA Tournament and then lose their head coach after his first year on campus, Mountaineer fans have been up in arms about DeVries leaving their program.

Many of those fans feel as if DeVries has betrayed the program and it's fan base and indicating he wanted to stick around long-term and build the program up, and that he views the program as lesser than Indiana and perhaps didn't enjoy his time in West Virginia.

Harris' reaction to DeVries discussing being "unable to pass up" a school with Indiana's brand and resources indicates he might harbor some displeasure at how the situation with his coach played out as well. Fans indicated their support for Harris and his reaction, some of which can be seen below.
