West Virginia men's basketball secured a significant and must-needed win against Cincinnati at the WVU Coliseum on Wednesday night.

Darian DeVries sat down with Mountaineer Sports Network following the win and shared his thoughts on the game. Here's a taste of his initial thoughts immediately following the game.

On The Wild Finish to the Night

"Are we sure it's over? What a wild finish."

On The Close Game and High Stakes

"It was a tough, hard-fought game by both teams...there was a lot at stake for us tonight and both teams knew that and both teams played like it."

On The Team's Mentality Following Recent Slump

"When you haven't had a lot of success lately, some of the doubt can creep in."

On Amani Hansberry's Double-Double

"I thought Amani was huge for us down the stretch...what I love about Amani is that he just takes coaching and he doesn't quit. I thought he was huge down the stretch, it was just awesome."

On Defensive Adjustments in the Second Half

"I was super proud of the guys. I thought we came out in the second half and couldn't get going. We made a couple of changes defensively...and I thought the guys really executed it."

"We went to trapping the ball screens and we were scared of that...our backside help was where it needed to be."

On Slowing Down Cincinnati Star Scorer Jizzle James

"James has been hot, so to hold him to 1-of-8 from [three-point range] and 6-20 from the field, that was a big night for us defensively."
