On Friday, WVU men's basketball dropped its full non-conference basketball schedule for the 2025-2026 season, which will be the program's first season under the leadership of new head coach Ross Hodge.
As a result of the Big 12 Conference returning to an 18-game in-conference schedule β as opposed to 20 games last season β the West Virginia Mountaineers will get to play 13 games against non-conference opponents this year, highlighted by five opponents from power conferences and nine home games. There are also no true away games on the schedule, though the Mountaineers will have to travel for a two-game holiday tournament and a pair of neutral-site contests.

The Mountaineers open their season with an exhibition against an in-state Division 2 program in Wheeling, which is set for Sunday, October 26 at the WVU Coliseum. Then, the regular season schedule kicks off with a visit from Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, November 4.
The schedule is highlighted by a visit from archrival Pitt for yet another edition of the Backyard Brawl on the hardwood, with the Panthers set to visit the WVU Coliseum on Thursday, November 13. The Mountaineers won't have to leave the comfort of Morgantown until November 21, when they'll travel for the next set of marquee matchups on the schedule. They will head to Charleston, South Carolina for the 2025 Charleston Classic, where they are set to open the tournament against Clemson before having to face off against either Georgia or Xavier in the next contest.
Among other prominent contests on the schedule are neutral-site affairs in Charleston, W.Va against Wake Forest on December 6 and in Cleveland, Ohio against Ohio State on December 13. Other non-conference home games are scheduled against Campbell, Lehigh, Lafayette, Mercyhurst, Little Rock, Coppin State, and Mississippi Valley State.
