West Virginia track and field took a visit to regional rival Penn State this past Saturday to compete at the Sykes and Sabock Challenge, and walked away at the end of the meet with a first-place finisher in women's High Jump and a handful of Top 5 finishes for a number of individuals.

The Mountaineers were paced by sophomore high jumper Annishka McDonald, who took the gold medal spot in the High Jump event. The Jamaica native tied her personal best with a top mark of 1.74 meters in the event -- it's the second consecutive season she's captured first-place at the Sykes and Sabock Challenge.

Elsewhere in the field events, freshman Sabria Jones took fourth-place in the Women's Long Jump with a personal best mark of 5.65 meters. On the track, the Mountaineers collected another pair of fourth-place finishes from sophomore Izayah Everett in the Women's 200 Meter Dash ( who finished with a personal best of 24.83 seconds) and sophomore Tecla Lockrale, who made her collegiate debut in the Women's Mile Run and crossed the line in 4 minutes, 47.09 seconds.

Rounding out the Top 5 finishes for the day was sophomore Mary Delaney, who took fifth-place in the Women's 800 Meter Run with a time of 2 minutes, 15.31 seconds.

The Mountaineers will return to action this coming weekend on February 15th and February 16th. The Mountaineers will send one unit of athletes to the YSU Collegiate Invitational on Friday in Youngstown, Ohio. WVU also will have athletes in the Northeast this weekend, with split squads also shipping out to Boston for the Eagle Invite on Friday and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday.
