WVU great Geno Smith had telling response after blockbuster trade to Raiders

Still surprised over what happened on Friday? In stunning fashion, the Seattle Seahawks traded former West Virginia stud Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. Seriously, who in the world saw this coming? We sure did not.

According to multiple reports, the Seahawks and Smith were working on a contract extension, but with talks not going anywhere, the door was opened for Smith to get traded. Pete Carroll and Co. came calling and the rest was history.

While Seahawks fans are thankful for Smith and what he was able to get done with the team, it sure looks like Smith was ready for a fresh start elsewhere. That much was made pretty clear with his social media post shortly after the blockbuster news dropped:

So, while the Seahawks weren't able to get things done with a new deal with Smith, Las Vegas is preparted to make him happy. Reports have also stated that Smith is looking for $40-45 million per season in his next deal, which was something the Hawks weren't prepared to meet.

Smith spent the past five seasons with Seattle, highlighted by back-to-back Pro Bowl campaigns with the NFC West side in 2022 and 2023. This past season for the Seahawks, the veteran signal-caller tossed for a career-high 4,320 yards, while adding 21 touchdowns.

Now that he's going to be reunited with Carroll in Sin City, Raiders fans are hoping that the two can help the offense get back on track. This exciting news also came in after Maxx Crosby was given a huge extension from the front office.

It's a new era for the Raiders now that Carroll is in town and people are ready to see this team make some noise in the AFC West. Smith will arrive in town with loads of pressure on him, but he's motivated to deliver for this team, especially with a handsome new contract expected to get finalized soon too.
