WVU football is riding high after a thrilling victory in the Backyard Brawl against archrival Pitt in Week 3.

Now, the Mountaineers are headed west to begin their Big 12 slate against the Kansas Jayhawks, who are coming off a bye week following a tough rivalry loss. If you’re looking to stay up-to-date on this weekend’s clash between the Jayhawks and Mountaineers, here's all the information you’ll need.

The Basics: When And Where

The matchup with Kansas is the second road trip on the 2025 schedule for the Mountaineers – West Virginia is 0-1 away from home this season after losing to Ohio 17-10 during a Week 2 trip to Peden Stadium in Athens. The action is set for Saturday, September 20 at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kansas, and kickoff is currently set for 6:00 PM EST.

TV, Streaming, and Radio

Those looking to catch this week’s game on television can find the game aired on Fox Sports 1 (FS1), and the game can also be streamed live online with a valid Fox One subscription. Commentary duties are set to be tackled by play-by-play announcer Noah Reed and analyst Robert Smith.

Radio coverage will also be available, and can be found on all local Mountaineer Sports Network affiliates or The Varsity Network via web browser or smartphone app. The radio broadcast will see Tony Caridi on play-by-play commentary and Dwight Wallace handling analyst duties, while sideline reporter Jed Drenning delivers coverage from the field. Weather Forecast

Lawrence, Kansas will be cloudy with a small chance for light rain on Saturday, but any precipitation seems likely to clear out before kickoff. The high is set to be 76 degrees, with a low of 61 degrees, and temperatures are expected to be around the high near kickoff and then will drop into the 60s over the course of the game. A light wind of around eight miles per hour is also expected.

WVU-Kansas Series History

The West Virginia Mountaineers and Kansas Jayhawks have met 13 times, with WVU holding an advantage of 11-2 in the series and a one game winning streak over Kansas after a 32-28 victory last season at MIlan Puskar Stadium. The first meeting came in 1941, but the two teams would not meet again until WVU joined the Big 12 in 2012 – they have played each other in every season since except 2023.
