In 2008, Colorado defeated WVU in a 17-14 overtime win in Boulder, in a game that featured current WVU assistant coaches Pat White and Noel Devine playing for the Mountaineers. WVU and Devine returned the favor with a 35-24 win over the Buffs at Milan Puskar Stadium in which Devin ran for 220 yards.

Rich Rodriguez is 5-1 against Colorado all-time as a head coach, but all of those games were played while he was the head coach at Arizona and the two programs met as members of the PAC-12 Conference.
