After struggling with injuries and eligibility issues across a running back room once considered one of the deepest positions on the roster, WVU football has been down their top two running backs for most of the season and have even converted one defensive player into a short-yardage back. Now, the Mountaineers are looking to address the need through recruiting.
According to multiple sources, Martavious Boswell of Copiah-Lincoln C.C. – who is a three-star JUCO running back currently ranked as the second-best JUCO prospect at his position according to 247Sports – has set up three official visits with Power 4 programs in the coming weeks, with one of those teams being the Mountaineers.

Boswell was recently named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 1,109 yards & 13 touchdowns this season as he helped lead the Wolves to an 8-2 season overall. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound sophomore originally attended Blinn College in Texas as a freshman, where he finished the 2024 season with 371 yards and five touchdowns in five games while averaging 9.3 yards per carry. Boswell is a Forth Worth, Texas native and product of Southwest High School.
Boswell’s visit to Morgantown is set for this weekend on November 22, coinciding with the Mountaineers’ bye week. He is also set to visit Kansas State on November 24 and Mississippi State on November 28 for the Egg Bowl rivalry between the Bulldogs and the Ole Miss Rebels. He also recently took a visit to Southern Miss of the Sun Belt Conference.
