The recruiting aspect of running a college football program never stops, and that is definitely the case over the past couple of days for WVU football. Here's a quick look at the recruiting news you may have missed recently.
'Jesus In Cleats' Sees Senior Season End Early
WVU football landed a notable commitment this past summer from Class of 2026 three-star prospect SirPaul 'Jesus in Cleats' Cheeks, who racked up over 1,100 rushing yards and over 500 receiving yards during his junior season.
Unfortunately, the agile and speedy back has seen his senior season at the high school level come to an end early, and due to an injury that will require a lengthy recovery. The news broke Sunday evening that Cheeks has suffered a torn ACL and will not return to the gridiron this year.
NEW: Varina High School (VA) RB SirPaul ‘Jesus in Cleats’ Cheeks is out for the season with a torn ACL, he tells Rivals.

Mountaineers Out To Massive Penn State Commit
With James Franklin losing his job after Penn State dropped to 3-3 on the season, the Nittany Lions will now have to deal with the recruiting fallout from losing their head coach.
One player committed to the Nittany Lions is four-star linebacker prospect Terry Wiggins, who is ranked the 15th-best linebacker nationally and the tenth-best player in the state of Pennsylvania in his class. The Coatesville, Pa. native has not decommitted from Penn State but is officially re-opening communication with other schools.
"With Franklin getting fired, I'm going to open up and start talking to some schools," Wiggins told Lions247 on Monday. "I am still committed to Penn State. Just opening my recruitment up."
Sources have indicated that West Virginia is among the schools that have reached out to Wiggins, although it is still early in the process of his recruitment being reopened. But it could be a player to keep an eye on.
JUCO Prospect Decommits From WVU
The Mountaineers have lost a potential addition to their next recruiting class.
Aaron Edwards, who is a JUCO prospect currently playing for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, has officially decommitted from WVU after he earlier pledged himself to join the program's 2026 recruiting class. However, there was not as much of a falling out between the two parties as there was a change in plans for Edwards' graduation timeline, which leaves WVU unsure if they'll have a roster spot available for Edwards. Defensive coordinator Zac Alley assured Edwards that he can still join the program if a spot remains open, and Edwards will still be considering the Mountaineers.
"Because I am a spring graduate now, and I knew it would be a good decision, because they might not have a roster spot in the spring," Edwards told West Virginia On SI. "So I just decommitted, but Coach (Zac) Alley said I still have a chance to come play in the spring, so I still have the offer. He just has to see if it will still be available in the spring."
I would like to thank the West Virginia University and the entire football staff for welcoming and supporting me in every way to their organization.
